THE FIRST STEP

A clear, written estimate

A BETTER PLAN FOR YOUR HOME

Start by confirming what is installed

“Quest plumbing” is a term commonly used for polybutylene water supply systems. It is not the same material as PEX or CPVC. Pipe markings, accessible connections, and inspection records are more useful than guessing from color or the age of the home alone.

Our team assesses the accessible water lines and discusses the extent of the existing system. When replacement is recommended, we plan a new REHAU PEX water supply installation, including the fixture connections and routes required for the agreed scope. A clear plan helps you understand the work before you commit.

KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR

When to have your pipes assessed

01

A home inspection identifies polybutylene or Quest water supply piping.

02

Accessible markings suggest polybutylene, but you need confirmation.

03

Leaks or previous repairs have raised questions about the remaining lines.

04

You want to understand replacement scope before a renovation or property transaction.

Repair or repipe? Start with the cause.

The absence of a visible leak does not establish the condition of every hidden pipe. At the same time, a photo or material label alone cannot reveal the full extent of work needed. We begin with identification and an assessment, then explain the proposed replacement scope and access requirements.

If the work relates to buying, selling, or insuring a home, share the relevant inspection findings with our team. Ask your insurer or transaction professional about their own documentation requirements; a plumbing estimate does not determine those policies.

THE RED CEDAR APPROACH

Care at every step.

01

Assessment & written scope

We review the existing system, plan access and routing, and discuss pricing and timing. Confirm which water lines, connections, and optional services are included before work begins.

02

Protection & installation

The team prepares the work areas and installs the new supply piping. We explain the planned water shutoff and access needs so you can prepare your household.

03

Testing & walkthrough

We pressure-test the new system and walk through the completed work. Drywall patching is an optional add-on. See our repiping process for more detail.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Your questions,
answered.

Understand the scope, the process, and what to expect.

How do I know whether my pipes are polybutylene?

Start with visible pipe markings and any existing inspection report. Ask a qualified professional to confirm the material and identify which parts of the supply system use it. Color alone is not enough.

Is replacing Quest piping the same as replacing drains?

No. This service concerns the home’s water supply lines. Drains, sewer piping, and the incoming service line should be addressed separately in the written scope.

What material do you use for the replacement?

Red Cedar Repipe uses REHAU PEX for residential repiping. The team will explain the proposed routing, connections, and installation plan during your estimate.

Can you provide an estimate before I commit to the work?

Yes. Request a free in-home estimate so we can assess the existing system and discuss pricing, access, timing, and any optional patching work.
