Galvanized Pipe Replacement
If your home still has galvanized water lines, recurring leaks or restricted flow may be signs that the piping needs attention. Red Cedar Repipe evaluates aging galvanized systems and plans replacement around the condition of your home.

A BETTER PLAN FOR YOUR HOME
Replace aging supply lines with a coordinated repipe
Galvanized steel piping can develop internal corrosion and buildup over time. Even when the visible exterior looks intact, the inside of a line may restrict water flow. Replacing one leaking section may leave other aging lines in service.
Our team reviews the accessible piping, previous repairs, and the symptoms you are noticing. Where replacement is appropriate, we plan a new REHAU PEX water supply system rather than assuming every older home needs the same work. We also discuss whether the incoming water line needs separate evaluation.
KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR
When to have your pipes assessed
01
Water flow drops noticeably when more than one fixture is running.
02
Discolored water occurs along with known aging galvanized supply lines.
03
Leaks or corrosion have appeared at multiple accessible sections or joints.
04
Past repairs have left a mixture of old galvanized and newer piping.
Repair or repipe? Start with the cause.
Low pressure and discolored water can have causes beyond the pipes inside your home. A fixture restriction, valve, water heater, incoming service issue, or utility work may require a different response. An assessment helps determine whether repiping addresses the actual problem.
If several branches of the system are deteriorating, ask for a comparison between another localized repair and a broader replacement. A useful estimate identifies which old sections will remain, if any, and how the new supply lines will connect to existing equipment.
THE RED CEDAR APPROACH
Care at every step.
01
Assessment & written scope
We review the existing system, plan access and routing, and discuss pricing and timing. Confirm which water lines, connections, and optional services are included before work begins.
02
Protection & installation
The team prepares the work areas and installs the new supply piping. We explain the planned water shutoff and access needs so you can prepare your household.
03
Testing & walkthrough
We pressure-test the new system and walk through the completed work. Drywall patching is an optional add-on. See our repiping process for more detail.
BUILT AROUND YOUR HOME
The right materials.
A considered installation.
We use REHAU PEX for residential repiping, with routing, access, and connections planned for your property. The new system is pressure-tested before the final walkthrough.
BEFORE YOU DECIDE
Your questions,
answered.
Understand the scope, the process, and what to expect.
Will replacing galvanized pipes improve water pressure?
It can improve flow when corrosion or buildup in those lines is the restriction. It cannot guarantee higher pressure if the cause is elsewhere, such as the incoming supply or a pressure-regulating valve.
Does all of the old pipe have to come out?
The work plan should explain which lines will be removed and how inaccessible sections will be handled. Ask the team to identify the supply lines being replaced and any sections outside the proposed scope.
Can you replace galvanized piping with PEX?
Yes. Red Cedar Repipe uses REHAU PEX for residential repiping. We assess routing, access, and connections before confirming the installation plan.
How do I prepare for an estimate?
Make accessible piping and previous repair locations available to inspect. A list of affected fixtures, photos of past leaks, and any plumbing records can help us understand the system.
