Copper Pipe Replacement

One copper pipe leak may be an isolated repair. A pattern of leaks in different rooms deserves a closer look. Red Cedar Repipe helps homeowners evaluate failing copper water lines and compare continued repairs with a whole-home replacement.

A clear, written estimate

A BETTER PLAN FOR YOUR HOME

When repeated copper repairs become a bigger decision

Copper piping does not need replacement simply because it is copper. Its condition, the location and frequency of leaks, and the history of repairs matter more than the material name alone. A careful evaluation helps avoid replacing a sound system or overlooking a broader problem.

If a repipe is appropriate, we plan replacement supply lines using REHAU PEX. The project scope should identify affected branches, connections to fixtures and equipment, and any existing lines that will remain. Our focus is a clear plan for the water supply system, with access and disruption discussed before work starts.

KNOW WHAT TO LOOK FOR

When to have your pipes assessed

01

Leaks have developed at several separate locations over time.

02

A recently repaired system has started leaking in another area.

03

You have documented recurring pinhole leaks or repeated ceiling and wall repairs.

04

A plumbing inspection has identified deterioration beyond one isolated section.

Repair or repipe? Start with the cause.

A localized repair may make sense when the issue is limited and the rest of the system is in good condition. A broader repipe becomes more relevant when failures are recurring across the house or accessing each repair repeatedly is becoming disruptive.

Bring your repair history to the estimate: where leaks occurred, how they were repaired, and whether the hot or cold lines were affected. We use that information alongside an inspection to discuss the practical options. No one can promise that one repair means every other pipe will fail, or that visible copper guarantees the whole system is sound.

THE RED CEDAR APPROACH

Care at every step.

01

Assessment & written scope

We review the existing system, plan access and routing, and discuss pricing and timing. Confirm which water lines, connections, and optional services are included before work begins.

02

Protection & installation

The team prepares the work areas and installs the new supply piping. We explain the planned water shutoff and access needs so you can prepare your household.

03

Testing & walkthrough

We pressure-test the new system and walk through the completed work. Drywall patching is an optional add-on. See our repiping process for more detail.

BEFORE YOU DECIDE

Your questions,
answered.

Understand the scope, the process, and what to expect.

Do you install new copper or replace it with PEX?

Our residential repiping service uses REHAU PEX. If you have a material preference or a particular connection requirement, discuss it with the team before the estimate is finalized.

Does a single pinhole leak mean I need a repipe?

No. One leak alone is not enough to establish that the entire system needs replacement. The condition of the remaining piping and any pattern of failures should guide the decision.

Will repiping fix every water-quality concern?

Repiping addresses the water supply lines included in the project. Water discoloration, taste, or other concerns can have different sources and may need separate investigation.

Can I stay in the home during the work?

Ask the team to explain the access needs and planned water shutoff for your specific project. That schedule will help you decide how to plan your day and household routines.
